Riverwalk

So this weekend, Joey and I ventured out to experience the very talked about Riverwalk in Downtown San Antonio. And it was AWESOME!! Hard to put into words but one of the coolest things we have ever seen!
The Riverwalk is a system of canals with bars, restaurants, and shops surrounding it. You literally walk right next to the water! I could definitely see falling in because some of the walk ways are very narrow! They also have boat rides that you can take down the canal that with a guide to tell you all sorts of facts about this awesome place! We did not do this but plan to very soon!
After walking around a little, we were both very hungry and decided to stop at a authentic Mexican Restaurant for chips & salsa, margaritas (we each had a Texas Longhorn Margarita--very yummy), and an appetizer that we shared! It was very cool, we sat out on the patio where we ate, drank, and people watched!

This is something that we can't wait to do again! Very excited to experience the Riverwalk during the daytime!

Also, we can't wait to share this awesome place with our parents when they come to visit!

P.S. Mom & Dad there is a Howl at the Moon on the Riverwalk, so get ready!

Hopefully we will be able to take Joey's parents there too!

First full week completed

First day of work picture

Well Joey officially has finished a full 1st week of work at Fort Sam Houston! I would say for the most part if was a very good week for him! He did not do much, but like he said hey if they want to pay me for doing nothing I'll take it!
Basically, he is helping out other soldiers who are in training right now until his training starts in July! The worst part of his day was being out in the field in 100 plus degree heat! This week though it sounds like he will be in the office instead of being out in the field, which he said he would rather be out in the field! So hopefully his 2nd week goes just as well even if he is in the office!

Little play time before Dad leaves for work!

Cacti

We now live where you can find CACTI growing wild everywhere!

Fun place to walk

So where our apartment is located, there is really no place to walk Duke besides for around our complex. So as we were driving around one day we saw this park that was for hiking! So we went home, got Duke, and went to explore! Well we fell in love with it and now we take Duke there almost daily, mostly at night to help calm him down for the night! The path that we take is pretty short but because it is so hot it tires Duke out, which we love! Pretty soon we will venture on to take one of the longer trails now that Duke is starting to get used to the weather!

Our 1st Visitor

So last weekend, Will (Joey's friend from Ft Hood) and his wiener dog Emmit came to visit us! It was very fun to have them here! It was especially fun to watch Duke and Emmitt play together. Will is going to breed Emmitt so he has not gotten him fixed, which means Emmitt is a very horny dog! He likes to hump and will hump anything, this night Duke was his target! So funny because they would be playing and all of a sudden Emmitt would start humping Duke!!! Long story short, Duke now is humping too! Thanks a lot Emmitt, now we have a horny dog!

Our New Apartment

So we have officially moved to San Antonio, Texas! We are still having a hard time believing that we are here, but we have been for over a week!
It has definitely taken some adjusting as we knew it would! It is so unbelievably hot here! Almost everyday has been in the 100's, which is not to Duke's liking! He really does not like to be outside, but is absolutely crazy when he is inside! He is no longer that cute puppy that sleeps all the time! Luckily we found a dog park close to our apartment that he really likes and doesn't seem to mind the heat when he is there!
We are living in a 2 bedroom apartment, which is awesome because it gives us that extra space to store stuff! Each room has a big walk-in closet, we each get one!! We have our own entrance way which I absolutely love, so much easier with Duke! The only thing I don't like is our kitchen, which is super small and doesn't have a lot of cabinet space, but it will due!
We also have a washer and dryer off our porch, which is definitely different but so nice to have one in almost in our apartment! No more counting quarters...we are officially growing up!
Here are some pictures of the apartment I took when we first moved in!

We are off!

We stuffed every inch of the trailer and still needed a lot more room, so we stuffed the back of the truck! When we were packing the truck we had thought a tarp would work just fine to cover the back! But because it was such an awkward layout, my dad came up with this great idea on how to protect all our stuff back there! He is so clever, I never in a million years would have thought of something like that! AND it worked perfectly, stayed intact the entire 1400 miles!
Thanks Dad, don't know what we would do without you, don't know what we are going to do with being so far away from you!
A special thanks to both of our parents who spent an entire day getting us all packed up and ready to go! We couldn't have done it without you!!
Also, thanks to Brandon and Katy who watched Duke while we packed! Would have been very difficult with him around!

Bye Bye for now, Texas here we come!

We will miss you all very much and hope to see you soon!
All our love and please stay in touch!

More Up-North Pictures

UP-NORTH....aka GREATEST PLACE ON EARTH!

Once we picked Joey up from the airport we headed up to Conover to Joey's parents cottage! It is our favorite place to go because it is so relaxing! Everything that was worrying you before you left, lifts off your shoulders for the time you are there! Even though we were leaving in a week to move to Texas, we thought this would be the perfect spot for us to relax before the big move!
We were only up there for a couple of days but it was an AWESOME couple of days! It was also a great place for Duke and Joey to bond!
Some of my very favorite pictures of our time up there!

Joey meet Duke, Duke meet your Dad!!

They finally get to meet!!
Love this picture because Duke is like okay who is this new person now??
OK...I like him!!
Joey and Duke became instant best friends! Duke pretty much forgot about me and was all about his Daddy who gets on the ground and wrestles for the Championship belt with him! They are so cute together!
Our family is complete for now!!
Welcome home Joey!

Good-bye Wisconsin--for now!

Well it is official, Joey, Duke, Biff, and I have left WI and started our journey to San Antonio, Texas! Leaving was kind of bitter-sweet, as we are so excited to start this new adventure but sad to leave our families!
Leaving Wisconsin also means leaving our first apartment together! This was just a small 1 bedroom apartment, but it was ours and we loved it!

We will definitely miss living here and will always remember The St. Clair Apartments, but can't wait to see what our next place is like and to make many new memories!!

Joey comes HOME TOMORROW!!

Tomorrow at 1pm Duke and I will get in the truck and head to the Green Bay Airport to pick up JOEY (Daddy for Duke)!! His flight comes in at 2:23 and we will be anxiously waiting for him to arrive! Duke and Joey will get to meet for the first time and I am so excited for that moment! I can’t wait to see Joey’s face when he sees Duke for the first time! Then once we have Joey and the introductions have been made, we get back into the truck and head up to the North woods, our favorite place to go and just relax! Only this time will be much different with having Duke, hopefully it will all go okay and he will adapt well!

Duke will be meeting more people up there who I know are anxiously waiting to meet the little guy! Joey and I will also attempt to take Duke swimming!! Very excited for that! Lots of firsts for us and the little guy, can't wait! Mostly, though I just can't wait to be back in Joey's arms, have my best friend back!!
